Private Yoga Instruction

with Barbara Joy

Yoga helps you connect to your inner resource, that safe space inside where you are always grounded and at peace no matter what life throws at you. I work with you to have greater access to that place, your own inner teacher.

Private Sessions are specifically tailored to your physical/emotional/spiritual needs in the moment. We work together to customize a practice based on your needs and interests– alignment, strengthening, therapeutics, meditation and/or guided imagery. Whether you are a beginning student or have been practicing for a long time, private sessions transport your practice to another level.

Private and semi-private sessions take place in the privacy of your own home. Specialties include Yoga for Emotional Wellness- Anxiety & Depression, Restorative Yoga & Yoga Nidra guided meditation for anxiety, depression, insomnia, chronic pain.

TESTIMONIALS
Barbara is a first-rate yoga instructor who cares deeply about the welfare of her students. She stresses the importance of synchronizing breath with movement, as most yoga teachers do, but for some inexplicable reason her class is the only one I can actually do that. She has worked very hard learning new techniques and is constantly taking workshops to advance her knowledge to benefit her students. She has an excellent understanding of anatomy and how to avoid potential injuries and has helped me modify my practice to accommodate some medical issues”—John V.
Barbara is a phenomenally gifted instructor, she is encouraging, patient and very dedicated to her students.  I always leave her class with a sense of inner peace.  Yoga has been a great addition to my health and wellness program. Barbara has taught that yoga is a real tool to address our relationship with our body, our mind and our spiritual self.
Absolutely love you Barbara!

“When I enter the yoga studio, I know that I will feel welcome. You always seem happy to see me, and share the same warmth with all the students, new and returning. In class, I feel like I will be taken to another place than where I came from. We are complimented by you for our efforts, and never criticized.  Because I do not feel I am being judged, I believe I do my best. Sometimes you emphasize breathing, sometimes there is talk of the chakras (which I love) and their accompanying sounds,  sometimes the classes are more spiritual,  including a  brief meditation, or we  might practice the postures using the rope wall. It’s never the same class, but it’s always the same  feeling. And as much as I get sad momentarily when I hear you going for the tingsha bells,  I love the quotes you choose before we sit up, which somehow always hit the right chord. I am very grateful that I found you and your class to keep me grounded in this crazy world” — DeeDee S.

“I really enjoy your classes.  Your instructions are always very clear.  You walk around the room checking all the students positioning/alignments and you have the most calm and relaxed manner, all of which are very important for Yoga!  If I could, I would tape your voice and instructions as they are so soothing especially during Savasana.  I am sure the more advanced students appreciate you asking if anyone has any requests and I appreciate it that you remind us not do anything that hurts or doesn’t feel good.” – Anne

You have a very soft and calming voice which I appreciate at the end of my hectic day.” —Linda A

Time flies each Monday evening; even if I arrive tired and hungry, I never feel that way when I leave! She worries about my posture, hearing, head rest. So that means she knows who I AM, not just a body in the class. That is important to me.” — Larry G
